Starting September 2024, our remit is to revolutionise the landscape of Fijian football by launching a comprehensive global scouting and recruitment strategy. The focus will be on discovering eligible national team players with the goal of consistently qualifying for future World Cups. Working with Senior men's Head coach, Rob Sherman, and the ambitious staff at FFA, we developed an initial strategy to support this objective.
Fiji FA partners with Player Scout Agents
The Fiji Football Association (FFA) is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with Ali McLae and Russ Gurr, directors of International Football Consultancy, a world-renowned organisation specialising in overseas talent identification and recruitment.
This ground-breaking partnership is set to transform the future of Fijian football by implementing a comprehensive global scouting and recruitment strategy.
The primary goal of this initiative is to identify and recruit eligible players from around the world, with the long-term objective of consistently qualifying the Fijian national teams for future FIFA World Cup tournaments. With the growing need to tap into a larger pool of talent, FFA recognises that expanding its search beyond national borders is a crucial step in elevating the country’s footballing status globally.
Ali McLae and Russ Gurr bring experience and an extensive global network to this project. Their expertise will be instrumental in uncovering overseas talent with Fijian eligibility, players who have the potential to strengthen the national team and make a significant impact at the international level both now and in the future.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf says the partnership marks a significant milestone for Fijian football.
“We believe this initiative, alongside our well-established FFA national academies, will accelerate the development of top local talent while integrating new overseas players into our squads,” said Yusuf.
“The combined efforts of local and international talent will create a more competitive and dynamic environment for Fijian football.”
As this new initiative takes shape, the FFA is confident that it will pave the way for a new generation of footballers who will proudly represent Fiji on the world stage and support the long-term success of Fijian football.
