Starting June 2025 Football Federation American Samoa (FFAS) is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Alastair McLae and Russ Gurr, directors of International Football Consultancy—a globally recognised organisation specialising in the identification and recruitment of overseas football talent.
This forward-thinking partnership aims to reshape the future of football in American Samoa through the development and execution of a comprehensive international scouting and recruitment strategy.
The key objective of this initiative is to identify and recruit eligible players from across the globe, with the long-term goal of positioning American Samoa's national teams to consistently qualify for future FIFA World Cup tournaments. Recognising the importance of expanding its talent search beyond domestic borders, FFAS sees this as a vital step in strengthening its global football presence.
Alastair McLae and Russ Gurr bring a wealth of experience and an extensive international network to this project. Their insights will be crucial in discovering overseas players with eligibility for American Samoa—individuals who can contribute meaningfully to the national team and elevate its competitiveness on the world stage.
Football Federation American Samoa (FFAS) President Alex Godinet says the partnership marks a pivotal moment in the federation’s ongoing development.
“We believe by joining this programme, alongside our well-established FFAS national academies, will fast-track the growth of local talent while successfully integrating overseas-based players into our squads,” said Godinet.
“The synergy between homegrown and international players will foster a more competitive and dynamic environment for football in American Samoa.”
As this initiative unfolds, FFAS is confident it will inspire a new generation of footballers to represent American Samoa with pride and help lay the foundation for sustained international success.
